If you are a true Sushi lover, then you must love some of the details that make the sushi world so spectacular and irresistible. Let’s dig into some of the best sushi fillings ideas you will crave to taste (if you haven’t already)!
Japanese Cucumbers
They are crunchy, they are tasty, they are refreshing – they are cucumbers. Have you tried Japanese cucumbers? If not, try because they have fewer seeds. To use cucumbers, take half of a cucumber and peel the skin. Use a sharp knife to cut the inner flesh into two halves and further cut them into two to get 4 long pieces. Remove the seeds from each section and cut each piece again into two halves to get 8 slices.
Avocado
Avocados make an excellent filling with an amazing flavour whether you are preparing California rolls or maybe Shrimp Tempura rolls. Remember to use ripe but firm avocado. Cut the avocado into half from both ends until the knife touches the pit, twist and separate the halves. Remove the pit of course. You may either cut slices with the skin still on and then scoop out the flesh or first scoop out and then slice them.
Carrots and cucumbers
Carrots will add beautiful colour and texture to your sushi roll fillings. Just make sure you use fresh looking young carrots that break easily. When preparing them you need to first cut off the head and then peel off the skin, but you already probably knew this. For a great sushi filling you will need thin and short strips!
Mango and Cucumber
You’ll have to pick ripe but still firm mango to make slices you will love as your sushi filling. Mango adds to a great flavour and just like carrots, a beautiful colour. To prepare it for a sushi filling peel the outer skin and cut the mango into the half. Then take a sharp knife and make thin slices. Cucumber and mango make a great combination that gives an extra crunchy feel to your sushi and also balance the sweetness of mango.
Salmon, Avocado and Cheese
Make slices of the raw fish and then cut thin strips to use as fillings. Afterwards take a ripe avocado, peel the skin, remove the pit and then cut out the avocado. Use a layer of that delicious cream cheese with raw fish and avocado to create an irresistible flavour and an unforgettable taste.
Tiger Prawns, Mayonnaise, Fish Roe, Lettuce Leaves
Put a pan on the stove and cook the prawns on both sides. It will take about 3 – 4 minutes to have them ready. Let the prawns cool. Mix mayonnaise and roe and keep it aside. Wash then dry the lettuce leaves. Now, line up two tiger prawns and put those lettuce leaves on them. Feel free to add cucumbers and avocado. In the end add a spoon of fish roe and mayonnaise and you have got yourself a filling to live for.
