WORLD’S LONGEST SUSHI ROLL
This sushi roll was so long that it had to be constructed by the Tamana Otawara Festival Executive Committee. Yes, the job was just too much for only one person to handle. And it had to be made in the local athletic centre because, you know, it was so big. This gigantic sushi roll was completed on 20th of November 2016. and it measured – 2, 845 meters in length! More than a lot of people can even run for.
WORLD’S MOST EXPENSIVE SUSHI
Given the fact that sushi is made of rice, raw fish, veggies, and seaweed you would probably think it cannot cost all that much. And you would be right, unless you are a Philippines based chef Angelito Araneta Jr. who managed to put the price up. And we mean, way up! Now, on 28th of June 2010. Angelito served up 5 pieces of Nigiri sprinkled with gold leaf and diamonds and charged it 1,765.20 American dollars!
MOST HOSOMAKI MADE IN TWO MINUTES
This amazing sushi roll famous for having your favourite and healthy Nori seaweed tightly holding raw fish, rice and other ingredients is definitely a stunning dish. And, make no mistake, making them is an art in itself and takes special skills as well as years of practice and dedication. Nevertheless, on 25th of November 2001. Joakim Lunblad from Stockholm set the world record by managing to produce 12 hosomaki in only two short minutes. Well done!
MOST NIGIRI EATEN IN SIX MINUTES
Given the fact that Nigiri is just delicious, it is no wonder one would want to keep ordering more. However, Tim Janus from San Francisco managed to eat 141 pieces of Nigiri in only 6 minutes on the 11th of August 2008. We want to meet the chef!
For those who’d like to learn more – the most expensive fish ever sold was 222kg bluefin tuna and the price was skyrocketing 1.76 million American dollars! It happened in Japan back in 2013.
