The Breakfast Club (1985)

The Breakfast Club was written and directed by John Hughes, who a few years later wrote and produced the famous Home Alone. The movie revolves around five high school students sharing detention. They eventually discuss their problems and discover they have a lot in common despite their differences. The sushi scene is pretty entertaining because it stresses how socially unaccepted sushi still was back then. One of the detained students opens up her bento box, and the others look at her like she opened up a can of sardines or did something really weird. Well, even the eighties had some flaws.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011)

This amazingly inspirational biographical movie tells a story of Jiro Ono, a renowned sushi chef and the oldest person ever to receive the Micheline star. The story covers his humble beginnings and his path towards sushi perfection, and the perfection of his art and becoming something of a Japanese national treasure. Watching this documentary about love, family and dedication will definitely inspire you at least to let yourself indulge in the powerful taste only a true sushi can deliver.

John Wick (2019)

One of our favourite action thrillers and a movie with a special character as well as some dark streak to it also found a place for sushi inside the script!

Even though Keanu Reeves is not in this scene, Asia Kate Dillon, playing The Adjudicator, approaches the sushi bar. Here we see how skilled the assassin is at being a sushi chef. And he prepared a Blowfish sushi!

If you know anything about Blowfish, it’s one of the most difficult to prepare. True, you only need to cut it but incorrectly preparing Blowfish releases toxins that could easily kill a man. We promise not to place you in the peril when you visit Fukuro Sushi&Sashimi Bar. The only danger here are dangerously good sushi bites!

Johnny English (2003)

Now, how can you not love Rowan Atkinson aka Johnny English starring in only the best parody to the James Bond movies next to Austin Powers?

It is a parody and tribute to the James Bond franchise and Atkinson’s Mr. Bean character and the sushi scene is just too much! Of course, it starts smooth and serious with a plan to unravel the mysteries of the Orient but also ends in a complete disaster and some sushi flying around! Must watch!

To unravel the mysteries of the Japanese cuisine you only need to visit Fukuro without any fear of a catastrophic turn of events. See you in the sushi heart of Rijeka!
